We are delighted to announce the signing of central midfielder Jay Glover, who joins the Robins from Sheffield FC.
The 23-year-old brings valuable experience to Ryan Hindley’s squad, having previously featured for Sheffield Wednesday, where he made three competitive first-team appearances.
Glover has also gained experience in non-league football, including time with Spennymoor Town in the National League North, as well as spells with Matlock Town and Belper Town, before most recently representing Sheffield FC.
Robins manager Ryan Hindley expressed his delight at completing the signing and thanked Sheffield FC for their cooperation in allowing the transfer to proceed smoothly.
“Delighted to get this over the line. Thank you to Craig Denton and Sheffield FC for allowing the smooth transfer.
“Jay has unbelievable pedigree. He’s played in the Football League, he’s 23, and he’s also got a number of Step 2 games under his belt. He’s the perfect profile of what we’re looking to bring to the club.
“I’ve got a good feeling our fans will love him. He’s very athletic, has great composure and picks passes, as well as getting mud on his shirt and blood on his knees. Everything this club expects.”
Glover’s technical ability, composure in possession and willingness to compete make him an exciting addition to the Robins’ midfield as Hindley continues to shape his squad.
Everyone at Ilkeston Town would like to welcome Jay to the club and wish him every success in a Robins shirt.
