We are delighted to announce the signings of defender Jack Thompson on a permanent deal, and forward Gunner Elliott on loan who join the Robins ahead of our trip to Gainsborough Trinity.
Robinson, who joins us on a permanent deal after his departure from Nottingham Forest as a third-year professional, had his first taste of men's football during a loan spell with Barrow AFC last season, where he made 10 appearances for the Bluebirds after joining in the January transfer window.
Speaking on the 21-year-old's arrival, Robins boss Hindley said: "This is the calibre of player we want at the club. A leader, a winner, and someone I can’t wait to work with, welcome Jack!"
Elliott is an 18-year-old forward who joins us from the Spireites on an initial one month loan as he looks to build experience at senior level.
The forward has been capped eight times for Malta in their youth sides, with five of those coming for their u17s, and the other three being at u18 level.
He made one senior appearance for Chesterfield last season, playing 45 minutes in an EFL Trophy fixture against Doncaster Rovers.
Hindley was delighted to secure the services of the striker, and here is what he had to say: "Firstly, thanks to Paul Cook for allowing this to happen. Gunner is a striker and Maltese u21 player, he’s played for Chesterfield's first team, making one of the youngest ever players to play in the first team. He’s continuing his development, and we're delighted that’s with us; he's a player who plays beyond his year. I think the fans will love Gunner."
Both players are eligible to feature in our fixture tomorrow night subject to NPL approval.
Everyone at Ilkeston Town would like to welcome Gunner and Jack to the Robins and wish them every success during their time at the club.
